What is a Labranard?
December 13, 2008 in Uncategorized by Labranard Admin
Well, that depends on who you ask I guess. To me (and a lot of other people) “Labranard” is just a term that describes a mixed breed dog that has Labrador retriever and Saint Bernard traits. Basically, I got tired of saying “She’s a mix between a Saint Bernard and a Labrador Retriever”. I stumbled across the term “Labranard” (actually, I found Labrenard) on another site and it just seemed so much easier.
Apparently to some people usage of the term Labranard is border-line blasphemy. I stumbled across a post on Yahoo Answers from the past week or so and it seems that some people think it is more important to bitch about the term than to provide a simple answer to the question. The person was just looking for information on how big a Saint Bernard Labrador mix would be. Instead, the majority keyed off of the use of Labranard.
Lighten up people.
Interestingly enough, this site only came into existence in March 2008. I put it together because I was noticing the search term “labranard” was showing up way more often that any combination of “saint bernard labrador mix” in traffic to my personal website. I had posted a few times about Roxie and had one single comment where someone used the term Labranard.

I just adopted a Labranard puppy. Bear is 3 months old and he as gentle as can be. I was wondering how big to expect him to get and if I should start buying extra towels to catch to drool now or if they are more of a dry mouth like the lab.? Thanks for any information that you could give me.
My dog is 7mo and does not drool, he has the st.benard as the dad so he has lab hair- I think the mom as the st. benard would make them drool, not sure. He has lots of loose skin like a st. benard and it is getting looser every month. Hope this helps.
My dog is 4 months and only drools after eating.
Congrats, Kelly! Since there is such a difference between labs and St. B’s, our vet said Maria could be anywhere from 50-150 lbs. Luckily at two years old, she’s plateaued at 85 lbs. or so.
As far as drool, we were prepared for it, but she only really drools when she’s mouthwatering for a treat or smells something yummy we’re eating for dinner. Since her jowls are larger than a labs, the only problem we’ve had is water continuing to drain from her mouth after she’s finished at her water bowl.
Hope all is going well with Bear!
Maxmillian is 8 months and huge. He doesn’t drool much. Barks and jumps all the time. Everyone is afraid of him but he is just a big baby.
My uncle gave me a puppy that he got from the pound I named him
Cooper I think he might be a little over 1 month old or so but he doesnt drool but he lovessss 2 play & chase goats & chickens around the barn but Im not sure how big he will get any idea??
